The KXT VAULT is the bAKEHOUSE support centre for arts and community. With a focus on artists support, the development of new work, and community engagement it’s the beating heart of our home on Broadway
The Laboratory is a collaboration between bAKEHOUSE and Montague Basement that aims to foster emerging writers on the cusp of presenting their work on independent stages. After a break in 2022 and 2023, bAKEHOUSE & Montague Basement are teaming up to relaunch the Laboratory for 2024, a writer’s circle program for developing work, peer networking and dramaturgical support.
Since moving to Ultimo in March 2023, the KXT Vault has supported 17 developments; an additional 2 pop up seasons; and provide 10 weeks of free rehearsal space.
COMMUNITY: bAKEHOUSE works with companies at KXT to raise awareness and funds for an extraordinary number of Not For Profits and Community based organisations, to build relationships, and to engage in radical community support. The KXT Vault is where Community x Art meet
introducing the David Bathur Creative Fellowship, investing in the building blocks of ground breaking artistic work; social justice initiatives; community engagement; or similar.
ENGAGEMENT
David Bathur was a bAKEHOUSE Board Member from 2017 until his sad passing in 2022. Dave was deeply driven to see the world a better place for all, and his work and passion combined social justice, politics, creativity and communication. There was no one like to Dave to see a thing as it was, and clearly and kindly state what was to be done.
For thirty years, Dave was a collaborator, supporter, co-conspirator, cheerleader and enthusiastic participant in all the wild adventures cooked up by Suzanne, John and bAKEHOUSE, and he is deeply missed.
To celebrate his life, work and big-hearted support of all the bAKEHOUSE endeavours, we are excited to announce the launch of the David Bathur Creative Fellowship.
We are looking for an individual with big ideas and wildly creative plans to spend a week of residency in the Vault at KXT on Broadway.
