Over two jam packed days in the KXT Vault, kwento will host workshops for likeminded theatre makers keen to upskill themselves in grant writing, playwriting and directing new work. Join Kenneth and Jordan, fresh from their work at Queensland Theatre, to guide you to your latest project!

TUESDAY 27 AUGUST

JORDAN SHEA

10.00am - 5.00pm in the KXT Vault

Led by Queensland Premiere’s Drama Award-winner Jordan Shea, the day’s sessions will focus on the vital early elements of writing for performance. This workshop will also include an intensive session leading participants through an interactive grant writing masterclass - how to pitch, budget and connect with funding bodies and grant programs.

SATURDAY 31 AUGUST

10.00am - 5.00pm in the KXT Vault

Led by STC Resident director Kenneth Moraleda the day’s sessions will focus on the ways director's approach new work and how to engage in vital collaboration with the playwright. The workshop will cover finding the heart of the play, the director as dramaturg, asking the right questions and how to ensure a harmonious partnership as the playwright hands over their vision to other creatives.

Kenneth Moraleda is an actor/writer/director/creative producer of Filipino descent. He founded the production company kwento with Jordan Shea and Jana Vass. Kenneth is currently the Resident Director at Sydney Theatre Company. He was Assistant Director to Kip Williams in Tommy Murphy’s adaptation of On The Beach and to Sarah Giles in The Importance of Being Earnest. For STC’s 2024 Season Kenneth has directed 2 world premieres: A Fool In Love by Van Badham and American Signs by Anchuli Felicia King. For kwento he directed Ate Lovia  by Jordan Shea at the Old Fitz, The Marriage Agency by Saman Shad at KXT in the Cross, and co-wrote and directed One Hour No Oil also staged at KXT in the Cross, which gained him a nomination for Best Director In An Independent Production at the Sydney Theatre Awards.

Jordan Shea is a Filipino-Australian writer and teacher who works across theatre, screen and non-fiction. A graduate of the VCA, his work has been developed extensively with Belvoir, STC, Australian Plays Transform, Hayes Theatre, and KXT. He is a former Varuna House fellow through Writing NSW, a former Philip Parsons Fellow at Belvour, and current Artistic Associate at KXT. Jordan is the recipient of the Queensland Premiere’s Drama Award 2025 for his tender dramedy that pits love against obligation, Malacañang Made Us now programmed as part of next year’s Queensland Theatre season.
