STORYLINES
Through our StoryLines initiatives, bAKEHOUSE provides a platform for true Australian stories: supporting work by First Nations artists, culturally and linguistically diverse artists, and queer and trans practitioners, and marginalised communities - telling their stories their way.
Not just because there are so many amazing artists who deserve to be on our stages. But because if you’re investing in the future of the arts in Australia then you should be telling Australian stories.
At KXT on Broadway bAKEHOUSE is committed to identifying, engaging and investing in the next generation of Australian theatre makers
25 September - 05 October
Spanning ten years from the 1960’s to the 1970’s, Sonal Moore’s autobiographical play follows the journey of her parents to make a new life in Australia - why they first came and what made them stay.
Seen through the eyes of three generations of women, Ten Years To Home reveals the challenges faced by an Indian family living a long way from home in a predominantly white Australia, and shows the friendship that was extended to them until - ten years later -Australia had also become home.
Director Neel Banerjee
With Reema Gillani, Karina Bracken, Shabnam Tavakol, Taufeeq Ahmed Sheikh, Madhullikaa Singh
Presented by Nautanki Theatre

It is my hope that through our work, we can contribute to a broader, more inclusive representation in the arts, allowing new narratives and faces to emerge regardless of cultural background or gender.” Shakira Clanton speaking with Diversity Australia Magazine
